just teasin'

I know you probably can't tell what this is fully but I promise it'll be great. There's a piece I've been wanting to develop for a while now -- started a pattern about a year ago and shoved it into a box while I was moving (you know how that goes). I recognized that every ten designs I'm almost repeating the same sketch of this design, so, I decided it was time to bring it to life! Come to Chillin' Productions for it's debut!

bhldn

I am continually amazed at how Urban Outfitters, Inc is able to reach an all-encompassing market. Hard to imagine how the founder (and his wife/partner at the time) started from nothing in the 70's. From the hippy gardener to the dirtiest of hipsters to the rich housewives of the Mid-West, it's no wonder they would branch off to create a bridal based brand, known as BHLDN. Anyhow, the concept isn't totally new (launched in February of this year), I just now had time to "ooh and ahh" about it. Everything is very pretty...EVERYTHING! Here are a few pieces I thought were interesting.

(Oh and this was neat too =D)

flesh. web photos

Hi world! I'm back!! I'm finally releasing some teasers for my website. These photos were taken by me for the launch of the flesh. website. Hopefully it won't take me as long to get that out as it did to release these photos. Thank you so much to my muse Sonia who was so easy to work with even through extreme hiking and weather conditions...and Sarah who was able to help me out with hair styling at the last minute while catering to my crazy schedule, you ladies are amazing!!

rustic rust lace, dark silky charmeuse and pixie peter pan collars

I've been wanting to take some process photos of this one. I had a sketch of this set sitting around for months. Finally I had a chance to finish it. The rust colored lace is unique in that it's more soft to the touch compared to your typical lace. The peter pan collar creates a deep neckline at the center front and is made of black silk charmeuse. Trimmed in black scalloped elastic, the silhouette is a trapeze shape with a hook-n-eye closure at the collar. The bikini bottom is made of this rust colored lace and black silk charmeuse. I should have these available by Valentine's Day 2011!!! hopefully on my new online shop.....!!

nina

I didn't catch this bustier in the A/W 10/11 Nina Ricci RTW show. This image, which I found on Fashiongonerogue.com, is from the August issue of Vogue Nippon and Eniko Mihalik is the model. I'm not sure why this piece was styled the way it was on the runway but I still love it the same. Have any of you been wondering what the difference is between a bustier and a corset? Because I have!! As I've been using the two terms interchangebly I had a feeling I was using them inappropriately. Corsets are typically designed to emphasize curves by cinching in the waist while bustiers are designed with a built in cup to give lift to the bust area.

flesh. now bone + black

I'm working with a new colorway, bone and black. I love the fabric, which is a bone colored mercerized cotton knit, but what do you think of the black scalloped lace ribbon? Honestly, it's giving me a hard time when sewing but I like the end results I suppose....

bustier finished!

So aside from all my other ongoing projects (ie. flesh., fashion show, pattern drafting class, and photo shoots (I'll have photos upload on those as soon as I get access to a cd drive)) I've also been working on a bustier. I was absolutely in love with my fabric finds so it took me a while on this one. After mulling over every detail I finally have it done! I wanted this to be so much more interesting in terms of the cut but I think what I gained from this was an excellent fit...can't complain. Well time to eat! ;P

flesh.

I woke up to this article in Daily Candy this morning and flesh. was mentioned in an announcement of the new Wonderland Boutique. Even more interesting, well, maybe just for me, I find out that I'm selling my line next to the label I first interned for, gr.dano! What a great reminder to get my butt out of bed and go to class! ;P I spent today drafting some patterns for the designs I have in mind and they're looking cuuute!

Check out the other articles that Wonderlands been featured in by clicking on the photos.

pinch me

I'm not really sure if this is really happening or not....I'm pretty sure it is but still...disbelief consumes me. I had a meeting with Irene, founder of Chillin' Productions, to bring over my flesh. products to her very-soon-to-be gallery/boutique to sell in her space. This gallery/boutique is called Wonderland SF and is located at 2929 24th Street, San Francisco, CA and due to open Thursday, May 6th. So there you have it, flesh., my trial run lingerie line's first retailer! Doin' my happy dance now...

Aaaaand back to designing!!!

post chillin'

It's the night after Chillin' Productions where I debuted my first lingerie line. The amount of work that has gone into flesh. was quite incredible, on a physical and emotional level - we're talking about back pains, headaches from no sleep, course grades dropping, demons I battle in my head that filled me with doubts, and weekend after weekend of disciplining that party mode I was so vulnerable to slip into. This sounds like pure hell but in all honesty...I would do it again...in a heartbeat. The event was more than gratifying for me and I hope to take this concept and expand it into something great. Here are some photos of my booth.

Thanks to all who came out to support!! And a special thanks to Matt Chambers who's a genius at lighting. AND an even more special thanks to Joey Lin whom I could not have made the night physically possible without!!

Please stay tuned to find out where you can buy flesh.!!

The creation of flesh. was mainly driven by my impulse to create a product for an audience. I've never done anything like this before so the unveiling of flesh. at Chillin' Productions this Saturday hopefully will provide me with some feedback...we'll see...that means PLEASE GO!! even just to say hello!
