more flesh.

The creation of flesh. was mainly driven by my impulse to create a product for an audience. I've never done anything like this before so the unveiling of flesh. at Chillin' Productions this Saturday hopefully will provide me with some feedback...we'll see...that means PLEASE GO!! even just to say hello!

miu miu in motion

AnotherMag released this mini film featuring pieces from Miu Miu's A/W 10/11 fashion show. The video was filmed by Willy Vanderperre who has this innate ability to build a very dramatic fantasy world for his audience. You can see his love for contrast in his photography portfolio. Particular aspects I love of this video - fashion (duh), creepy dark thriller, innocence, fury human cat-like woman, Miu Miu, interior, and Prodigy (whoa!). I'd agree that Vanderperre had captured the perfect picture in this film and portraying the mood that is Miu Miu. Read this for more on the artist's perspective.

It's almost as good as the Miu Miu S/S 10 show...

the supremes

So I've been hard at work cranking out pieces for flesh., and yes, you read that right pieces for flesh. (please refer to this if your confused). There's nothing like some good tunes to keep you workin'. Which is why I'm about to show you that I'm obsessed with The Supremes. Check out this video...I think I might need to make my own maxi summer dress...after the month of May...maybe.

superfluous spots...

Lately I have increasingly more in love with polka dots, my admiration for them ceased a some years ago when American Apparel came out with their polka dot leggings...I know, call me dramatic! With that said I'm pronounce my love for polka dots once again with these images...starting off with my fave!

new look

I'm trying to lift myself out of this month long shlump I've been stuck in...well, it's hard...I've reached a point where I hate everything in my closet, OH, you know what I'm talking about! I think its time I take a trip to Buffalo and Crossroads and do the ol' switcharoo with...umm..90% of my wardrobe! I was quite comfortable in this look today but overall I'm so tired of looking at my clothes I can't even tell if they're boring everyone to tears...what do you think?

tough enough

There's something that I find really special in items with a bit of history behind them. I came across Farm Tactics, a mens t-shirt and accessory line, which felt like the fun-loving offspring of N.I.C.E. Collective and J.Crew. I love their accessory line which featured rugged bags made from materials used in old military items and "old" as in WWII era. Some of these fabrics may even have original writings/markings on them. You know, I love their t-shirts as well and would totally wear them! I wouldn't be surprised if Farm Tactics developed a womens line based on the mens concepts, kinda like what N.I.C.E and J.W. Anderson did to their brand. I wonder if I'll meet my future husband shopping for one of these?? ;)

re: yet another social networking site

I just wanted to expand on my findings regarding an earlier post I made on April 7, 2010 in which I gave my content little chance in gaining the interest of my readers. After signing up for Sense of Fashion and really exploring the site I realized some sweet differences that set it apart from all the other fashion networking sites. Not only does it allow designers, stylists, shop owners and fashion lovers to showcase their own designs, styles, products for sale, and fashions they love...the founders of Sense of Fashion has really created a friendly environment for all of this to take place! Go check it out!

half way there!

For the past week I've been melting my brain away, working till the wee hours of the morning making some progress on these fashion show garments . Here's some pics of what I have so far, let me know what you think!!! Really!!

First off, this is my 2' x 3' drafting/cutting/ironing/sewing/serging table. I know you feel sympathetic ;) but I've made this work for me so far...sigh...really though, I'm really looking forward to upgrading one day.

This look is a bit basic after sewing up the majority of it. The idea was to add visual interest by creating the vest piece which has an asymmetrical cut but I'm not sure it'll be enough. Edits will ensue...I'm sure I'll add some fancy style back pockets to the trouser shorts (yeah! I used the same fabric from a previous project so what?! Yeah, I bought the entire bulk from SCRAP? so what?! I'm in love with it!) and possibly a safari style jacket instead of the vest...we'll see.

My jumper is coming along great! I'm fairly satisfied with my progress so far but a bit scared about how I will handle finishing the armhole and attaching the bodice to the skirt. I've added a peek-a-boo cut out to the back and I think it was successful. The hidden buttonhole placket wasn't as difficult to sew as I imagined it would be with this upholstery-like fabric.

Boy aren't you all just sitting on the edge of seat filled with suspense at all these almost finished projects?!!

good to know!

NY fashion - The Cut disclosed info about a new site, Fashion Stake to launch this Fall that will enable young designers to receive funding from their fans! This is so awesome, it reminds of the site Kickstarter except the greater cause is to help fashion designers to continue creating their art. With Kickstarter I always feel as if I have to propose a project that will benefit society in some great way when sometimes, in fashion, there isn't always a grand reason for its creation. Thus the bulk of what modern dress is -- decoration for its own sake. I'm excited to see how this concept will transpire!

j.w. anderson womenswear a/w 10/11

The collection was a mirror of the designer's punk inspired menswear line. Find out more on the designer in his brief interview with Dazed. These looks are so great! Not sure if I would ever wear my bra over my sweater in public but I guess you never know wear fashion can take us in the years to come.
